Today is Monday and that means another Give Me Five Monday meme from BeccA’s Buzz.  Since its been awhile since I’ve joined this meme I also thought I’d add the directions so you all know what I’m doing and why I’m laying five pieces of brilliant info about myself on you so as to not leave you scratching your heads wondering what planet stole my brain and returned it to my body in the form of scrambled eggs.  Enjoy!

The ‘Give Me Five’ Monday meme is designed to share fun information witheach other in a simple short list! Here’s how it works. Each week, I will put outa random topic from my list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back here! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn’t have to be in any order ofimportance unless otherwise specified.” -BeccA

Give Me Five favorite or un-favorite things to shop for.

This one is an easy one for me.  Shopping is a guilty pleasure of mine.  When I have a few bucks to spend on extras I get a little bounce in my step in anticipation.  I then wait for the right moment, biding my time, until a chance where my hubby can watch EJ, and then I disappear into the shopping abyss.  When I come back home with my treasures in tow I feel like a new woman.  Strangely enough I can get a small inkling of this feeling even going to the grocery store.  So without further blah, blah, blah, and the reason you came here.  My top 5 favorite or un-favorite things to shop for.
  1. Favorite! I heart SHOES! At a very young age I was compared to Imelda Marcos.  The worst thing that could have happened to me during my pregnancy did. Almost all of my shoes didn’t fit afterwards.  I was crushed I tell you. Spiritually and emotionally crushed. My hubby thought I was nuts.  My daughter was forced to wear infant shoes at all times to help support my habit. But inspiration to pull myself up by the bootstraps came in the form of a DSW gift card given to me by my tennis team.  These ladies, without knowing it, saved my closet from closing in on itself like a giant black hole, sucking me into the vortex too, forever changing the shoes I walk my path in.
  2. Favorite! I heart BABY CLOTHES! Who knew in the form of a little human could so much potential for shopping bliss lie hidden.  Before she was born, and also because we had no clue if she would come out wearing pink or blue ribbons, I didn’t spend much time looking at baby clothes.  I made sure I had the basics down, all in yellow, but other then that I reserved the true shopping for after she came squalling into the world.  Now I can’t get enough of finding that perfect little mini-me outfit.  My daughter dresses better then I do ya’ll.  While I’ll be in a ratty T-shirt and jeans she will be in a cute dress.  But not too cute.  My daughter isn’t foo foo.  She’s stylish.  And she has all the cute shoes to match!
  3. Favorite! I heart THRIFT SHOPPING! How else could I afford to support my baby clothes habit?  The suggestion I give to all new parents or even experienced ones is stop going to the mall to shop for baby clothes.  Find your local second hand or consignment store, here in Austin my favorite is Once Upon a Child, and go crazy in it.  My daughter hardly wears anything that doesn’t have designer label on it.  (Please note that I’m not a designer snob but I do believe that sometimes you get the quality you pay for.  Plus I find that in the lower quality market you get an over infusment of foo foo that will make me gag.) Child’s Place and Old Navy are my favorite finds!  There’s nothing like finding a Child’s Place skirt, that you know retailed for at least $15 or up, for $4!  Now that is an “Ahhhh” shopping feeling if there is ever one!
  4. Un-Favorite! (What? Did you think I didn’t have one?)  I hate MALL SHOPPING! Maybe it’s the fact that everything is over priced.  Maybe it’s the fact that I always end up walking past some display that will make me sneeze.  Or maybe it’s the fact that I feel like some ratty teenager is going to come along and steal my wallet when I’m sneezing.  Anyway you look at it I will avoid the mall if I can.  But that’s why God created parking lot entrances to the stores that I like right?
  5. Un-Favorite! I hate shopping for ANYTHING FOR MY HUSBAND! The man is impossible.  If I find the perfect gift it’s not exactly what he wanted and he gets this sad look in his eyes like I just shot down his hopes and dreams. If I don’t find the perfect gift he gets this sad look in his eyes like I just shot down his hopes and dreams.  And if I find that gift that he gave me the exact item number for so I wouldn’t mess it up, he’s usually bought it anyways before I had a chance because he starts thinking that I’m going to shoot down his hopes and dreams.  The man, and I use that term hesitantly in this sentence, is the worst at Christmas.
Well, there you have it!  I probably could have gone on and on with my shopping LOVES but ya know…. Its time to go get dressed and decide which shoes to wear today to match my T-shirt and jeans.
