Give Me Five Monday Meme

Today I’ve decided to join the Give Me Five Monday meme from BeccA’s Buzz.  Since this is the first time I’ve joined this meme I also thought I’d add the directions so you all know what I”m doing and why I’m laying five memories on you so as to not leave you scratching your heads wondering what planet stole my brain and returned it to my body in the form of scrambled eggs.  Enjoy!

The ‘Give Me Five’ Monday meme is designed to share fun information witheach other in a simple short list! Here’s how it works. Each week, I will put outa random topic from my list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back here! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn’t have to be in any order ofimportance unless otherwise specified.” -BeccA

Give Me Five memorable things you have done before.

1.  Left my hometown, college, and family when I was 22 to run off and join “the pipeline”.  Literally.  Before I knew it I was walking miles and miles, everyday, with GPS survey equipment mapping out where a new high pressure gas pipeline would be buried. And we aren’t talking little city lines here. Imagine the Alaskin Pipeline but underground and not so frozen but just as big and just as long.  And just as dangerous.

(I walked, on foot, NOT KIDDING, both of those lines on both of these maps. That’s the Canadian border in North Dakota to Illinois in the map on the left and then Illinois to, again, the Canadian border in Michigan in the map on the right.) ( It’s a really, really long walk)

2. Was shot at by an angry farmer while working on number 1.  I didn’t get hit but I did eat dirt as I hit it full force diving to the ground.

3. Rode out the edges of hurricane Ike as it brushed by Cancun. The main winds where 5 miles off our coast. We were in a beautiful resort and instead of hiding in fear many of us chose to stay out and relax in the pool raising our glasses and toasting to the power of that storm. A big gust of wind would whip through and we would all cheer and drink. (Of course we hid like scared bunnies when it started dumping rain.)

4. Eloped with my sweetie pie in Las Vegas. I was stone cold sober so I remember it all like it was yesterday.   And I didn’t even hit him over the head with a club to get him to the alter.  He went willingly ya’ll!

5. Gave birth to my daughter… or an elephant. Not sure. After 22 hours of labor I could have given birth to an elephant and they could have just handed me a random baby. But I still love her and I’m keeping her.
